The Drought in Georgia:La vida multimedia

Two residents of the Lake Lanier area, visit Holiday Marina to check out a new slip for their boat. Their boat has been sitting in a parking lot for the past couple months; they could not get it into the water at their current marina due to the water levels.

A sign outside of Holiday Marina serves as a reminder of the water issues.

Carolyn Crist, supermodel and undercover reporter extraordinaire, appears to be filming but in reality is checking a message sent to her via spy satellite.

These three images describe my past two weeks. I’m taking a Maymester at UGA on Multimedia Journalism and we are studying the drought and how it is affecting Georgia and South Carolina. The class split up into groups and picked a topic to cover. My group picked the economic effects of the drought on Lake Lanier as one of our topics.

So the past two weeks have consisted of learning how to use a video camera, finding a story and then filming it well. At the end of the class, each team will produce a few multimedia pieces that the Greenville Times will use on their website. Hopefully, hah.
